Sulwhasoo, a luxury skin care brand based in Korea, released a special edition of one of their facial serums that was centred around the Lunar New Year. To celebrate and announce it, they wanted to make a video campaign that they could play in their stores and release online, focusing on the Zodiac animal of 2020: the Rat.

Our friends over at DEPT came to us with a mission: “Develop the illustrative branding for the logistics giant DB Schenker's new shipping platform, Connect 4.0.” 

They wanted it to feel more friendly and approachable than what they had before, while still staying clean and professional.

The challenge

Sulwhasoo asked us to develop a film based on the design on the package, specifically the peony designed by the French studio Antoinette Poisson. They also wanted to include other animals from the Zodiac and many of the cities where the Sulwhasoo offices are located.

The challenge was then to create a film short enough for social media, but long enough to show all of these concepts fitting together cohesively.

When developing an overall concept for the video, we wanted to stay away from going into detail about features and technicalities that would bore the audience and not spark the right emotions.

Instead, our main objective was to convey how easy and efficient the new Connect 4.0 platform is. After all, the slogan is "Click, Ship, Done."

Working together with the agency A Work of Substance, we developed a style that mimicked the design on the box by combining classic frame by frame animation, digital animation, and 3d animation. Using these techniques, we were able to tell an engaging story that sparked a feeling of magic and celebration..
