Meraas. Design Quarter

3d
Campaign

M&C Saatchi launched an exciting campaign which celebrates local talent by commissioning real artists and designers to express themselves in their living space. Using a colourful combination of 3D, 2D and live-action, our quirky but gorgeous shorts and stills elevated the 3D renders we were provided to gallery-worthy art.

Character Design
The possibilities for creativity are endless when you Live Creative - from strange characters and peculiar avatars to balloons with faces and trendy purple-haired hipsters taking selfies amidst the harmonious sounds of a piano creating its own body music.

Embracing a "Live it Creative" mindset means that the only limit to what you can create is your own imagination.

Storyboard
At the heart of this film was the desire to unify three distinct scenes through the use of a single character, whose entrance into the space would catalyze the interaction of various elements. To achieve this, a significant portion of the project's early stages was dedicated to storyboarding, as we experimented with different ways in which the character and elements could interplay and complement one another within the narrative.

Logo design
In honor of the design quarter, we sought to create a truly memorable experience. Drawing inspiration from the themes of fresh energy, vibrant colors, and playful creativity, our artists took the quarter's logo and transformed it into a stunning work of art through their unique illustrations. The result was a celebration of both the design quarter and the boundless potential of artistic expression.

The result
A lively and dynamic creation has emerged, breathing life into the Design Quarters with a vivid and playful burst of color. The end result is an eye-catching and captivating piece that truly brings the essence of Design Quarter at d3 to life.

D3 ARTIST FILM

As part of the campaign, Meraas tasked us with conducting interviews with the three renowned artists involved: Sebastian Curi from New York, Miguel Angel Cambrubi from Madrid, and Tom Brolga from Terranora. These interviews provided valuable insights into the artists' creative processes and their contributions to the campaign's overall success.

We delivered three 30 seconds films animating their funny characters, adding rough scribbles and playing with different layouts.

As the campaign draws to a close, M&C Saatchi and the collaborating artists and designers are proud of what they have achieved together. The campaign not only celebrated local talent but also served as a reminder of the power of creativity and collaboration!
